Chillgroove is a trio consisting of Tim Casey, Kerry Maxwell and myself. We focus on improvised electronic music that draws from a wide variety of styles. Our first CD is a result of mixing a collection of jams and editing them to shorter pieces. True to the band's name, the tracks range from slow, relaxing ambient melodies to groove-oriented electronic music.

Samples from all the CD tracks are available to download on this page. If you are interested in purchasing the CD, please visit the Lowbudget Records website.

The band meets on a regular basis to jam on weekends. Most jams are recorded and kept for future reviews to select tracks for an upcoming CD. Some of the jams result in surprisingly coherent and well mixed results, not a trivial task considering the amount of equipment and gadgetry involved. Click here to download selected jams.

Reviews:

Wow, this 14-song journey through Chillgroove’s enchanted recording is very impressive.  I have always found CDs similar to this useful for meditating and “Chilling” out.  However, there are several things that make this effort stand out above the rest.  This Boston-based project infuses jazz, spoken word samples, vocal harmonies, guitars, and a host of other ingredients into their super sonic full-length creation.  The first song opens with a thunderstorm followed by amazing vocal harmonies and haunting whispers worthy of a horror movie.  Somehow, by the end of the song, it all comes together.  There are many angles to this excellent yoga soundtrack. I’m serious; this stuff will take you there.  These wizards of computer-based recording have also done a superb job at mixing these songs into cinematic, audiophile quality soundscapes for the mind.  I need to light some incense and listen through this again.
